Recommendations made by the Forest Service for Fire Prevention:
  1)      Remove dead vegetation
  2)      Remove ladder fuel:  cut low hanging tree branches up 3 ft.
  3)      Shrubs:  thin shrubs creating
  4)      Firewood should NOT be stacked closer than 30 feet from the cabin.
  5)      Decks:  underside should be enclosed to prevent debris from collecting.
  6)      Gravel:  Spread gravel around the base of the cabin 3 feet wide
  7)      Roofs:  Keep roofs and rain gutters clean of leaves and pine needles.
  8)      Propane Tank - gravel under & around tank

    FOREST FIRES 
2011
 1) 5-9-11 THE MAYHILL FIRE destroyed 31,000 acres, 3 homes, & a forest service bldg.
 2) 6-16-11 The RUIDOSO SWALLOW FIRE on destroyed 10,000 acres & 9 homes
 3) 6-28-11 THE LITTLE LEWIS FIRE ON destroyed 1,200 acres, 2 miles southwest of Weed started from lightning.
 4) 8-7-11 FIRE located 17 miles NE of Mayhill, lightning caused, destroyed 9,431 acres.
 2012
  1) 5-16-12 The largest fire in NM history: Whitewater Baldy Fire (Gila National Forest) lightning, 296,726 acres (464 sq miles) destroyed. 2 pilots died during aircraft crashes, 5 injuries.  12 homes & 13 out buildings were destroyed.  
  2) 6-4-12 Little Bear Fire - in the White Mountain Wilderness above Bonito Lake,  44,330 acres destroyed - 242 homes destroyed & 12 outbuildings
2013
 1) 4-17-13 Curtis fire - 2.5 miles SW of Mayhill, 109 acres destroyed, extinguished in 2 days

2016
 1) 5-16-16 TEST FIRE - 3 miles NW of Mayhill, lightning caused, destroyed 17 acres, 100% containment
 2) 7-12-16 Timberon Fire (31 miles south of Cloudcroft - 268 acres destroyed 70 structures including 44 homes, 16 vehicles, 1 fire truck. Evacuation of 50 people to Cloudcroft High School. Cause unknown.


PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT:
* Collapse cardboard boxes before throwing in dumpsters
*  PLEASE WINTERIZE - Due to freezing temps & water leaks
* NO FISHING OR SWIMMING in the pond.
* SEPTIC SYSTEMS  ~ the State of NM requires 3/4 acre for a conventional system.
* WATER TAPS or Leaks ~ contact a member of the water board for scheduling.
* 15 MPH Speed Limit signs ~ SLOW ~ help keep dust down & watch for animals. 
* LEASH LAW in the State of NM.  ~ Please keep dogs leashed while out doors.
* SUBMIT Building Plans to the ACC including remodeling

* Hunters please clean game before coming back to the subdivision.
* TRAVEL TRAILERS can be parked in the subdivision... BUT not to live in while visiting
